Getting started

What is 6b-art?
A gallery and trading hub for maparts. Upload your builds straight from the game, browse everyone else's, and trade copies with other players.
How do I sign in? Do I need a password?
No password or email — your in-game account is your login. Open the sign-in page to get an 8-character code, then run /maplink CODE in-game with the Maparts Link mod installed. The site signs you in within a couple of seconds. The first time you do this it also creates your account automatically.
What do I need installed to use 6b-art?
Minecraft 1.21.11 with Fabric Loader and Fabric API, plus the Maparts Link mod jar in your mods folder. See the guide for the full setup walkthrough.
How does 6b-art know it's really me?
The server this community plays on runs in offline mode, so your in-game username isyour identity — there's no Microsoft account check involved. Signing in just proves "whoever is running this game client right now controls this username", confirmed by a short-lived, single-use code. It's the same trust level as the server itself already uses.
I got a new PC / reinstalled the game. How do I sign in again?
Just run /maplink again with a fresh code from the login page — there's nothing to transfer or reset.

Uploading

Why can't I upload a screenshot from the website?
Uploads happen entirely in-game so the site always has exact data: the real map colors, the size in item frames, and each frame's map ID — not a photo of a screen. Stand in front of a mapart wall and run /mapupload with the mod installed.
How do I upload a single mapart?
Look at any frame in the wall and run /mapupload. The mod finds the whole connected rectangle of frames on its own. To name it yourself, add a title: /mapupload My cool build.
What happens if I don't give it a title?
The mod looks at the custom item names on the maps themselves — players often name multi-map builds something like "Sunset (3/6)" — strips the counter, and uses the remaining name ("Sunset") as the title automatically. If no map has a usable name, it just uploads untitled and you can add one later.
What is /mapselect for?
A precise way to pick the exact rectangle when you don't want the automatic wall detection. Run /mapselect looking at one corner frame, run it again looking at the opposite corner, then /mapupload. Selecting the same frame twice captures a single 1×1 map.
Can I upload several maparts on one wall at once?
Yes — look at the wall and run /mapuploadall. It automatically splits the wall into separate arts (first by matching map names, then by whether the artwork visually continues across a frame border) and uploads each one as its own draft. Groups it can't split cleanly into a rectangle are skipped — grab those individually with /mapselect. On a big wall it may pause for a few seconds first while it waits for every map's data to finish loading from the server, so nothing gets missed.
I uploaded a mapart that already exists — what happens?
Nothing is duplicated. If the exact same image (by content, not filename) already exists on the site — anyone's upload, draft or published — you're simply added as an owner of that existing mapart instead, instantly, with a link to it. Nobody's data is ever removed or replaced by this.
What happens if an upload fails?
If a step (creating the draft, sending the image, or processing it) fails to reach the site, the mod automatically retries once, 5 seconds later, before giving up. If the image itself turns out to be broken or oversized, that draft is removed automatically — you never end up with dead, broken drafts cluttering your maparts.
What's the difference between a draft and a published mapart?
Every upload starts as a draft, visible only to you on your maparts. Nothing appears in the public gallery until you hit Publish. You can unpublish again later, which pulls it back out of the gallery without deleting it.
Is there a size limit on maparts?
Up to 64×64 item frames per mapart — far bigger than almost anyone will need. There's no limit on how many separate maparts you can upload.

Managing your maparts

How do I fix a typo in a title without opening a whole form?
On your maparts, the title, authors, and 18+ flag are editable directly in the row — click in, make your change, click away (or toggle the checkbox) and it saves itself. A small toast confirms it.
Where do I edit the description, built date, or visibility?
Open Full editon any of your maparts (from the dashboard or the mapart's own page) for the complete form: description, authors, when it was built, 18+ flag, and public/private visibility. That page also shows the exact captured metadata — size, upload date, and the per-frame map list — which can't be edited since it comes straight from the game.
Why can't I delete one of my maparts?
Once someone else owns a copy — through a trade, or by uploading the same image — that mapart is shared data, not just yours anymore, so deleting it is blocked. You'll see a Shared chip instead of a delete button. The same protection applies while a mapart sits inside an open (not yet completed or cancelled) trade.
Can I filter my own uploads?
Yes — the maparts dashboard has filters for status (draft/published/ processing), SFW vs 18+, author, size, and a text search, so you can find one upload out of hundreds quickly.

Authors

Can a mapart credit more than one builder?
Yes — a mapart can list several authors. Enter them comma-separated (e.g. "Steve, Alex") in the quick-edit or full edit form. Each name links into the gallery's author filter so anyone can find everything a given builder is credited on.
What's the difference between the "author" and the uploader?
The author is whoever actually built the mapart in-game; the uploader is whoever ran the upload command (and therefore owns the account the draft lives under). They're very often the same person, but don't have to be — you can upload and credit someone else as the builder.
How do I find a specific mapart?
The gallery's filter bar covers a text search (title/author), author (a searchable dropdown of everyone with published work), size (also a searchable dropdown of the exact sizes that exist), sort order, and a "hide 18+" toggle.
Why are some images blurred?
Maparts flagged 18+ render blurred with a click-to-reveal by default. Signed-in users can turn this off for themselves in dashboard preferences — anonymous visitors always see the blur.
What is the "Similar maparts" section on a mapart's page?
An automatic visual-similarity check (not an exact match) that surfaces published maparts that look close to the one you're viewing — recolors, small variants, or the same art re-uploaded differently. It's purely informational and never blocks or merges anything.

Ownership & collections

What does "owning" a mapart mean on the site?
It tracks who has a physical copy in-game, separate from who uploaded it. Uploading a mapart automatically makes you an owner; completing a trade adds ownership for what you received; uploading an image that already exists adds you as an owner of the existing one. Multiple players can own the same mapart at once.
What are collections?
User-curated groups of maparts shown on your public profile. Everyone starts with one called "My first collection"; create as many as you like from your collections, rename them, and mark each public or private. Private collections are visible only to you.
Do I have a public profile?
Yes, at 6b-art.../u/YourUsername. It shows your public collections, stats (uploads, owned, completed trades, wishlist size, collection count, member-since date), and the same filters as the main gallery.

Trades & wishlist

How do I trade maparts with someone?
Open any mapart's page, find an owner in the Owners & trading section, and hit Propose trade. Pick what you're offering and what you want back — either side can be empty, so pure gifts and pure requests both work.
What are the stages of a trade?
Pending (waiting on the other player) → Accepted (meet up in-game and exchange the copies) → Completed (either side confirms it happened, which grants ownership of what was received). Either side can cancel before completion, and the recipient can decline a pending proposal. Every trade — including declined and cancelled ones — stays in your permanent trade history.
Can I discuss a trade before agreeing to it?
Yes — every trade has its own chat, right on the trade's page, that refreshes every few seconds while it's open.
What is the wishlist for?
A list of maparts you want but don't own yet. Add one from its page; owners of anything on your wishlist get a notification that you might be up for a trade.

Notifications

What triggers a notification?
Trade activity (proposed, accepted, declined, cancelled, completed), new trade chat messages, someone wishlisting a mapart you own, and account sign-ins via /maplink — plus a one-time welcome when your account is first created.
How do I mark notifications as read?
Just open the bell — everything currently unread is marked read the moment the panel opens. Read notifications older than 90 days are cleared out automatically so the log stays useful.

Privacy & moderation

What are private notes?
A small text box on every mapart's page, visible only to you — useful for jotting down coordinates, material lists, or reminders. Nobody else, including the uploader, can see them.
What can moderators do?
Moderators can edit, publish, unpublish, or delete any mapart for content-moderation reasons. They can never bypass trade mechanics — an open trade is protected the same way for everyone, staff included.
I think my account was accessed without me — what do I do?
Open your dashboard and use Sign out everywherein the security panel. It instantly invalidates every website login and every mod link (including the one you're using right now) — you'll need to run /maplink again afterward.
Where does the little face icon next to my name come from?
It's your skin's face, fetched by username from a public skin-avatar service — nothing is uploaded or stored for this, it's just a lookup by name.
