How 6b-art works

Your in-game account is your login — no email, no password. One client mod handles both signing in and uploading maparts straight from the game. Prefer a searchable Q&A instead? Check the FAQ.

1 · Install the mod

  1. Requirements

Minecraft 1.21.11 with Fabric Loader and the Fabric API mod installed.
  2. Drop in the jar

Put maparts-link-1.6.1.jar into your modsfolder and launch the game. Ask a staff member for the latest build if you don't have it.

2 · Sign in

  1. Get a code

Open the sign-in page and click Get your code. You'll see a short 8-character code.
  2. Confirm it in-game

In-game, run /maplink YOURCODE. The website signs you in automatically within a couple of seconds — the first time, this also creates your account.

3 · Upload a mapart

Uploads happen in-game only: the mod reads the real map data, so the size in item frames and each map's metadata are always exact. Screenshots can't be uploaded.

  1. Capture the wall

Stand in front of the mapart wall. Either look at any frame and run /mapupload(the mod finds the whole rectangle automatically and guesses the title from the maps' item names — pass /mapupload My title to name it yourself), or select it explicitly: run /mapselect looking at one corner frame, again looking at the opposite corner, then /mapupload. The capture also records each frame's map ID and item name.
  2. Whole wall at once

Got several maparts hanging on one big wall? Look at it and run /mapuploadall— the mod splits the wall into separate arts (by map names, then by whether the image continues across frame borders) and uploads each one as its own draft. Irregular groups it can't split cleanly are skipped; grab those with /mapselect. On a big wall the mod waits for every map's data to finish loading from the server before it composes anything, so nothing gets lost — it may pause for a few seconds first.
  3. Fix the details

The draft appears on your maparts page within seconds. Open Edit to set the description, author, built date, 18+ flag, and visibility.
  4. Publish

Uploads start as drafts only you can see. Hit Publishwhen you're ready for it to appear in the public gallery. Private uploads never show in the gallery, published or not.

4 · Trade maparts

  1. Find an owner

Every mapart page lists who owns a copy. Hit Propose tradenext to any owner, pick what you give and what you get (either side can be empty — gifts count too), and send it. Want something you can't trade for yet? Add it to your wishlist and come back later.
  2. Agree and meet in-game

The other player accepts, declines, or chats with you right on the trade page. Once accepted, meet on the server and exchange the map copies.
  3. Mark it completed

After the in-game exchange, either side hits Mark completed — both of you are then recorded as owners of what you received, and the trade lands in your history.

Good to know

  • Uploading the exact same image as an existing mapart (an image hash check, anyone's upload, published or not) doesn't create a duplicate — you're simply added as an owner of the one that's already there, instantly, with a link to it. Nothing of the original uploader's is ever touched or removed.
  • Uploads that fail (broken image, oversized file) are removed automatically — no dead drafts to clean up.
  • If a single upload step (in /mapupload or /mapuploadall) fails to reach the site, the mod retries it once, 5 seconds later, before giving up.
  • Every mapart page has a private notes box — visible only to you — for jotting down coordinates, material lists, or anything else.
  • Signing in on a new device just means running /maplink with a fresh code.
