Portrait of a Young Woman (Simonetta Vespucci as a Nymph), a celebrated Renaissance painting executed around 1480–1485 by Sandro Botticelli and preserved at the Städel Museum in Frankfurt. The work depicts a young woman in profile with reddish-blond hair gathered in elaborate hairstyles braided with pearls and ribbons. Around her neck she wears a precious necklace with a pendant cameo reproducing the Seal of Nero, a famous gem that belonged to Lorenzo the Magnificent. The painting is considered an idealized portrait and a celebration of 15th-century Florentine beauty.
Oil on canvas. Self-portrait executed in 1872 by the Swiss symbolist artist Arnold Böcklin. He first exhibited at the Kunstverein München in the same year, establishing his reputation in Munich's artistic community. It is now in the Alte Nationalgalerie, in Berlin.
